Kate SylvisKate, a Director in Guidehouse’s Risk Consulting Practice and the Enterprise Risk Management Solution Leader, has over 19 years of experience advising clients on complex governance, risk, compliance, internal control and operations challenges coupled with high transparency and regulatory scrutiny. She advises clients across a range of industries including: financial services, government, technology, healthcare, energy and consumer products.

Her expertise and experience cover a range of internal control, risk and compliance related competencies such as enterprise risk management (ERM) program design; risk and internal control assessments and practices; risk, compliance and control testing and monitoring programs; governance model design; operating model design and implementation (i.e., compliance, and risk functions); business processes design and process improvement; compliance risk frameworks, programs and monitoring activities; and integrating robust risk management and internal control into business operations.

Kate leads teams and advises her clients on the execution of risk and internal control assessments and practices; testing and issues management programs; design and operating effectiveness of internal controls associated with business process design; design and implementation of enterprise risk management related competencies such as initial program design including identification of appropriate governance and operating models; development of ERM framework and design, implementation and operation of the supporting business processes, identification and documentation of risk response and monitoring activities; and enterprise risk reporting. In addition, Kate has developed and delivered training relating to Internal Controls and ERM for clients across all staff levels of organizations.

Kate is one of the principal authors of the 2017 COSO Framework – Enterprise Risk Management-Integrating with Strategy and Performance.

Kate is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and Washington D.C., and holds the RIMS-CRMP and RIMS-CRMP-FED credentials. She has a BSBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Richmond.
