AFERM Lunch with Presentation on ERM by Nancy Potok and Doug Clift

Dr. Nancy Potok, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, U.S. Census Bureau
She previously served at the U.S. Department of Commerce as Deputy Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, the Census Bureau’s Associate Director for Demographic Programs, and the Principal Associate Director and Chief Financial Officer in charge of Field Operations, Information Technology, and Administration during the 2000 Census. Dr. Potok has more than 30 years of public, private, and nonprofit senior management experience. She was the Chief Operating Officer of McManis & Monsalve Associates, a small business specializing in helping Fortune 500 companies and government agencies manage change and innovation. She was also the Senior Vice President and Director of the Economic, Labor and Population Studies Department at the University of Chicago National Opinion Research Center (NORC), a social science survey research organization.

Doug Clift, Chief of the Office of Risk Management and Program Evaluation, U.S. Census Bureau
Mr. Clift is the Census Bureau’s Chief Risk Management Officer. He has served in this position for eight years and has more than 25 years of Federal Government experience. He is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of enterprise investment and risk management frameworks to review, authorize, and monitor the Census Bureau’s portfolio of investments. Specific duties include enterprise governance for portfolio and enterprise risk management, program and project management, and business process management. Mr. Clift has served in several capacities at the Census Bureau, including Chief of the Acquisitions Division, the Assistant Associate Director for Information Technology, and Chief of the Decennial Automation Contracts Management Office. His prior federal experience includes the Naval Sea Systems Command, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Clift has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Mary Washington and a MS in Information Systems from the George Washington University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Balanced Scorecard Professional (BSC).
