AFERM Seeking 2023 Board Members

AFERM is successful because of its members and their dedication to advancing ERM in the federal government. If you share that passion and want to play a crucial role in continuing to build AFERM’s reach and capabilities, please consider joining the Board or leading a Committee!

AFERM is looking for nominations to join the Board! Please consider joining us in one of these positions for a three-year term:

  • President-Elect — The President-Elect becomes the President in Year two and the Past President in Year three.
  • VP of Operations
  • VP of Outreach
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer-Elect

All submissions are due to the President-Elect via e-mail at President-Elect@aferm.org by September 2, 2022.  

Note: The current AFERM President-Elect leads a selection committee to nominate new Board members, which will be approved by the full Board. The new Board Members will start their terms on November 1, 2022.

With an objective to ensure consistency and equity amongst contributors, as well as to create an awareness of volunteer role expectations, the AFERM Board leadership established a set of minimum expectations to ensure smooth operations for the organization. Become a Committee Chair/Co-Chair

AFERM is also looking for Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs! Please consider joining us in one of these positions:

  • Communications Committee Chair — publishes the quarterly AFERM newsletter, coordinates the promotion of AFERM at the annual ERM Summit and at partner conferences, and helps to facilitate the dissemination of useful and timely communications via the website, social media accounts, email, and other channels.
  • Infrastructure & Operations Committee Chair — responsible for documenting AFERM’s internal governance and processes/procedures, the roles and responsibilities of AFERM’s board and standing committees, and how AFERM interfaces with its external stakeholders.  The provides oversight to the Webmaster (who manages content on AFERM website. Maintains the AFERM email lists and manages messages sent to those lists) and the Social Media Coordinator (who manages AFERM’s social media presence on LinkedIn and Twitter).
  • Knowledge Capital Committee Chair — oversees the planning, development and delivery of intellectual capital assets of AFERM for its members.
  • Membership Committee Co-Chair — responsible for expanding AFERM membership by attracting new members and retain current members on an ongoing basis.   The Membership Committee liaises with the CAAG Committee to ensure corporate sponsors are maximizing their free membership benefits.
  • Planning Committee Co-Chair — in consultation and coordination with the Board, facilitates the development of AFERM’s strategic plan, helps drive implementation of agreed-upon strategic initiatives, and monitors and reports on progress of those initiatives for the Board.
  • Programs Committee Co-Chair — responsible for organizing luncheons, workshops and networking events in which thought leaders or practitioners share ERM insights and experiences and engage in dialogue on various ERM topics and issues.
  • Sponsorship Committee Chair — identifies organizations seeking to enhance their brand and increase their exposure within the ERM community by partnering with AFERM.
  • 2023 Summit Chair/Co-Chair — responsible for all planning leading up to the annual AFERM Enterprise Risk Management Summit.

Note: The AFERM President appoints Committee Chairs, which are ratified by the full Board. Committee Chairs may serve more than one year. The new  Committee Chairs will start their terms on November 1, 2022.
