RIMS-CRMP-FED: The Mark of Excellence for
Federal Government Risk Management Professionals

RIMS, the risk management societyTM, and the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM) welcomed the first class of 65 RIMS-CRMP-FED credential holders at the AFERM Annual Summit in Washington, D.C.

The new credential was developed in response to the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-123 that urges Federal agencies to implement enterprise risk management to enhance decision-making. RIMS administered a pilot exam on September 29th and, beginning in 2019, RIMS-CRMP-FED testing will be available online.

“Government agencies are under extreme pressure to make critical decisions that directly impact the lives of their constituents, individuals and families in need and many other special interest groups,” said AFERM President Peggy Sherry. “With the RIMS-CRMP-FED, enterprise risk management professionals working in our Federal government can proudly confirm their specialized skillset and deliver pertinent information that facilitates confident decision-making. We are proud to honor these first 65 RIMS-CRMP-FED credential holders and look forward to building this group in the year ahead.”

“A strong enterprise risk management program, led by a strong risk professional can not only help identify emerging risks but, also, make important connections across the entity to more strategically address them,” said RIMS COO Annette Homan. “RIMS-CRMP certification holders are invested and committed to their work and our newly awarded RIMS-CRMP-FED brings that same level of excellence to the public sector.

“I would also like to thank AFERM for their support. AFERM Former President Todd Grams, current Board Member Cynthia Vitters and their current leadership have been remarkable co-champions of this initiative and we are excited to continue to strengthen this relationship,” Homan continued.

Launched in 2015, the RIMS-CRMP certification allows risk professionals to formally demonstrate their expertise, professional achievement and qualifications. With its online accessibility, it gives risk management professionals from around the world an opportunity to confirm their commitment to professional excellence.
