Federal agencies and contractors face growing pressure to combat cyber threats and comply with complex regulations. Whether achieving faster auditability or getting ahead of emerging cybersecurity threats, agencies must implement effective internal controls, risk management strategies, and data protection frameworks. A proposed solution is a unified Resilience Engineering framework that integrates Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM), and Zero Trust Architectures (ZTA) principles. By aligning governance, identity, and security enforcement under a continuous audit readiness model, organizations can shift to a more proactive posture of compliance and risk management through engineered assurance.

Enabling AI adoption through Enterprise Risk Management Framework: This two-part series article by Amazon Web Services (AWS) emphasizes the importance of strong governance to match the rapid adoption of generative AI. Research shows that while majority of executive leaders see responsible AI as a top management priority, less than 25% organizations have the programs to fully address it. The governance requirements are not just an IT concern but has become a business imperative. By establishing AI governance at the enterprise level, organizations can balance innovation with control, effectively managing the risks while harnessing the transformative potential of generative AI. Part 1 of this article provides guidance to business leaders, CROs and Chief Internal Auditors on the unique risks introduced by generative AI and their management. Part 2 covers practical strategies for adapting the organizational ERM framework to harness the power of generative AI while maintaining robust controls. Read more in Part 1 and Part 2.

Purdue University restructures its Risk Management organization to strengthen risk and resilience capabilities: As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Purdue's risk management and operational resilience capabilities, the university has undergone a reorganization to move its program and business continuity management initiative under the Internal Audit department and expand its scope across the university.
