I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the 2026 AFERM Virtual Summit. The event was a tremendous success, bringing together our community for two days of thoughtful discussion, practical insights, and meaningful connection across the enterprise risk management (ERM) profession and those wanting to learn more about ERM.
We were fortunate to host an outstanding group of speakers who shared perspectives on the evolving role of ERM, particularly in the context of federal transformation, emerging risks, and the growing importance of integrating ERM into mission delivery. Across a wide range of sessions, attendees engaged deeply with topics such as governance, innovation, and the application of AI in risk management.
Just as important as the content was the level of engagement. The discussions, Q&A participation, and networking throughout the summit reinforced the strength of this community and the value we bring to one another. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s a testament to both the quality of the program and the commitment of our members.
To those who attended, thank you again. We appreciate your continued support and involvement.
AFERM–AGA Transition Update
I also want to provide an update on our progress as we continue joining forces with AGA.
We have formally transitioned all administrative functions from our previous management company. As expected, there have been a few bumps along the way, and we appreciate your patience as we work through them.
We have engaged legal counsel to support the formal dissolution of AFERM and are actively developing the agreement that will define our new structure within AGA.
AGA will provide a complimentary one-year membership to all AFERM members, covering the period from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027.
You will be receiving communications from AGA with instructions on setting up your account in the AGA management information system.
For those who attended the Summit, your CPE certificates will be available through the AGA website once your account is established.
If you have any questions or suggestions during this transition, please reach out to me directly at President@AFERM.org.
Save the Date
We are finalizing plans for an AFERM/AGA Goodbye–Welcome gathering and hope you will join us. The event is currently planned for May 21st from 4:00–7:00 PM. Space will be limited, so please be sure to RSVP once details are released so we can plan accordingly.
Thank you again for your engagement, your patience, and your continued commitment to advancing enterprise risk management. I look forward to what we will accomplish together in this next chapter.
Sincerely,
Sam Twyman
