Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) could not be more relevant in the federal government than it is today. As a key resource to prioritize resources, optimize spending, and realize efficiencies, ERM helps agencies achieve their missions and objectives. This Summit is an opportunity to strengthen support for ERM and advance its role as an essential tool for success.
On October 21–22, 2025, AFERM’s 2025 Virtual Summit, "Mission Possible: Unlocking the Future of Enterprise Risk Management," will explore a critical question: What will ERM look like beyond 2025 — and who will shape its future?
This year’s Summit sessions and workshops are organized around three themes:
-
Innovate – Learn to use innovative and emerging solutions and techniques to better identify, assess and respond to risks before they are realized.
-
Integrate – Learn to better collaborate ERM with Planning, Budgeting and Strategy and improve risk-based decision making.
-
Impact – Learn how to create a greater impact for realizing agency mission, optimize opportunities and reduce fraud, waste and abuse, through ERM
AFERM is the premier think-tank for generating fresh ideas and tools about ERM. There is no better place to spend two full days learning, networking, and earning valuable CPE credits.
Don’t wait—secure your spot and be part of the conversation redefining ERM’s future.

The Case for Strengthening Risk Management in Government Institutions: The role of the public sector is central to national development. Government institutions deliver essential services, drive major infrastructure projects and oversee fiscal responsibilities. Despite this critical role, many government agencies, are continued to be plagued by long-standing issues related to procurement irregularities, underperformance, lapses in project delivery and financial leakages. At the heart of many issues is a governance gap. This article focuses on the gaps related to structured and proactive approach to risk management that remain underdeveloped in the government of Ghana. It makes an argument for the things that public sector organizations need to achieve to effectively manage risks related to climate uncertainty, rapid technological changes, geopolitical shifts, and increased public scrutiny.
