Facilitated Webinar — Preparing for Future Risks: Using Foresight and Scenario Planning to Identify Emerging Risks

Toffler Associates will share the value of foresight and scenario planning and its role in risk management. Futures and foresight techniques provide a proven and structured process that can help identify potential opportunities and risks. This webinar will help risk officers and managers better anticipate and prepare for uncertain environments and identify emergent risks that can inform the strategic planning process. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to apply futures principles to continuous risk identification efforts and development of an iterative surveillance process for identifying leading indicators of future risk.

The webinar will also highlight how futures techniques can be leveraged to support agency planning around the range of possible new normals resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and conclude with a practical exercise to explore consequential changes, disruptions, and emergent risks, whether 6 months or 6 years, that could impact attendees’ agencies.

About the ERM Seminar Series
Agencies are under increasing pressure to perform their missions more effectively and efficiently, while the types of challenges that government confronts are growing more complex. Agency leaders are expected to keep programs and operations on track by getting ahead of risks before they turn into problems. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is an approach that leaders can apply to gain a comprehensive assessment of the biggest risks to mission success and provides a strategy for managing and mitigating these risks. Done well, ERM can improve positive outcomes while reducing negative surprises, improve resource deployment, and enhance organizational resilience. The ERM for Government Executives seminar series equips government leaders with practical knowledge, tools, insights, and good practices for promoting and supporting ERM in their own agencies.

Is this event moving to virtual? I’d be very interested, but both public health and convenience (I’m 70 miles north of DC) have me hoping for a non-face-to-face version.
