Please join AFERM on March 14, 2019 for a Luncheon featuring a discussion with Katharine (Kate) Kelley, the Superintendent of the Arlington National Cemetery. Ms. Kelley will share how the identification of risk and open sharing of information helps effectively deliver the important mission of Arlington National Cemetery.

As the Superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery, Ms. Kelley is responsible for the complete operations of Arlington National Cemetery encompassing 624 acres, nearly 4 million annual visitors, 180 primary staff, 200 contractors, approximately 7,000 annual burials and $80M dollars in construction and operating funds. She is responsible for the strategic vision for the cemetery including planning for expansion opportunities, and directs all operational support to the burial, visitation and education and outreach missions.

Ms. Kelley also serves as an Army liaison to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Battle Monuments Commission, and the National Park Service to develop strategic partnerships, improve support to veterans and their families, and enhance the overall family and visitor experience at Arlington.

Prior to taking over as the Superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery, Ms. Kelley served in the Army and as a Civilian employee of Department of Defense, including serving as the Chief of Staff of Headquarters Services in the Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. Ms. Kelley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Villanova, a Master’s Degree in International Relations from University of Oklahoma, and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI.

Lunch will be provided and will include a salad and a roast chicken entrée. A vegetarian option will be available as well. 1 CPE will be awarded for attendance.
